Mike Clark - Itai Doshin (with Eddie Henderson, Patrice Rushen, Henry "The Skipper" Franklin, Craig Handy)

With Eddie Henderson (Blue Note) on trumpet, Henry ‘The Skipper’ Franklin (Hugh Masekela, Blackjazz Records) on bass, Craig Handy (Herbie Hancock) on tenor saxophone, and esteemed artist Patrice Rushen on piano and Rhodes.

Embracing many of the jazz genres Mike is famous for, Itai Doshin is a masterpiece recording that ventures from straight ahead to funk and beyond. With nine new recordings, five original works, and outstanding covers of Thelonious Monk’s “Epistrophy” and Bob Marley’s “I Shot the Sheriff” — both reimagined classics. All are in top form: Eddie sounds as wonderful as always, and Craig is right there with him. Patrice is in command of her skill and well complements a rhythm section for the ages.
